The Lilly Ranshead Maxi Skirt
Lilly started making colorful, cotton print dresses in 1960 to hide the stains from her fruit juice stand. Before long, Lilly had more requests for the dresses she was wearing than the juice she was selling and officially opened Lilly Pulitzer, Inc. "The Lilly" is the original Lilly Pulitzer label, which was in business from 1959-1984. Her dresses were known for their whimsical prints, loose and easy fits, and incorporated her name, Lilly, somewhere in the design. The earliest fabrics were 100% cotton or a poly-cotton blend.
