Maddy's Nautical Wedding

March 23rd, 2018

Tuckernuck co-founder Madeline married her high school sweetheart Paul on June 7th in Nantucket. Life long lovers of the island, the DC duo thought it was the perfect place to make their decade of dating official surrounded by friends and family. Warm and sunny, the weather was ideal for cocktails on the harbor and an airy night of nonstop dancing to kick off summer. Tuckernuck clothing was well represented in the bridesmaids and groomsmen’s all American style, ideal for a Nantucket wedding.

" Paul’s family has a farm in Virginia so his mom enjoyed playing off of the Westmoor Club country vibe, as it actually used to be a farm. She had long tables, wildflowers and a ‘family style’ passed dinner featuring sweet potato fries, grilled chicken and fresh vegetables with strawberry shortcake for dessert. The toasts and slideshow were my highlights! "

" Designing the invitations was my favorite part of planning. Mr. Boddington helped me do a custom envelope liner inspired by my favorite dress I bought on Nantucket... a nautical toile print. Playing off of the whaling theme, as Nantucket was big time in the whaling industry in the mid-1800s, Mr. Boddington created a more refined whale to be our symbol for the weekend. "

" I chose our venue Nantucket Yacht Club because I wanted a simple beautiful space with high ceilings and clean colors on the harbor. It combined the best of Nantucket in my mind; the ferry coming into the Steamship Wharf, a walk through the beautiful historic town from the church, sprawling grass lawn for cocktails, and classic decor of wicker furniture, beautiful wood bars and blue and white patterns. " The reception aesthetic was an ode to classic New England style. Striped and toile linens, rope accents, navy ginger jars, and topiary trees contributed to the airy summer vibe I was trying to create. I didn’t want anything to be fussy or overdone because my style tends to be pretty paired down, as is Nantucket’s… understated and elegant. "

" The bulldog bride and groom topper I had made on Etsy, and she actually matched the topper dogs to look like our current bully Huxley. I grew up with bulldogs my whole life and it happens to be my husband’s school mascot. Some might say I’m obsessed! "
