Introducing
Tuckernuck x Nantucket Reds™
July 16, 2024
Murray’s Toggery Shop is such a staple on Nantucket that their iconic, red-washed fabric is officially trademarked as Nantucket Reds™. This is the material we associate with our best summers on island and we’re excited to come together for the official Tuckernuck x Nantucket Reds™ collection. Follow co-founders September, Jocelyn, and Maddy as they style our new pieces for a quintessential summer day.
We’re honored to celebrate the uniform of Nantucket by designing a collection of contemporary silhouettes in the heritage fabric that means so much to us. Featuring versatile pieces for women in Murray’s signature fabric, consider this capsule our modern twist on a Nantucket staple. We hope you’ll live in these styles and make the most of summer wherever your happy place may be.
The Story Behind the Island Icon
Murray’s Toggery Shop opened in 1916, with Philip Murray as its manager. In 1963, Phil began selling men’s pants made of a faded red cotton, which he called “Nantucket Reds,” perhaps not knowing the legacy and trademark the term would have. As interest and demand for the fabric grew, so did the collection, delivering pieces for every member of the family. Murray’s is now owned and operated by four members of the family’s fourth generation.
Nantucket Reds™ is the official name of the red-washed canvas fabric produced by Murray’s Toggery. Originally inspired by the red sails on boats in Brittany, France, the material is guaranteed to soften and fade with every wear, wash, and sea breeze—meaning it only gets better with age.
The catch of the season: these wear-everywhere chinos. Whether you’re casting lines off Nobadeer Beach or drying off for dinnertime, these wide-leg pants are a roll-up-and-go, wear-all-day staple. Style them with our baby pink polo for a layered, color-block moment.

An old-school, 100% cotton sweater is a summer essential, especially when you’re outside prepping for dinner or running barefoot around the backyard.

Biking is the preferred mode of transportation on Nantucket, so dressing for the ride is a must. We recolored our iconic Chloe in Nantucket Red so it can go for a quick spin and pull up straight to the party. Stop by Steamboat Pizza on the way to grab a few pies for the kids.

Watching the sun set and hosting a big beach barbecue is our favorite way to end the day. Our go-to spot: 40th Pole!
You’re on island time here, so keep the top down and pack wiffle ball for the kids and cold Cisco beers for the parents. With ever-changing weather and days that inevitably turn into nights, you’ll want to have hats, sunnies, and light layers on hand.

There are no rules or dress codes at a beach party. Think of our collection as “Reds remixed” with pieces that are cool, casual, and flirty with a tomboy twist.
