How should I monogram a present?

Monogramming is an art. Before you monogram, make sure you know her full name (first, middle, and last) if you’re going to go the traditional three-letter route. For the friend who’s a bit more of a free spirit, go with her college nickname or a catchphrase she says like she’s on a sitcom. Inside jokes and memories make it all the more personal. Read our Monogram Guide for more information about monogramming etiquette and the best lettering placement.

Help! I waited too late to get
something monogrammed.
What should I do?

Don’t sweat it. Any gift can be made personal with thoughtful touches. A picture frame is all the more meaningful with a handwritten note taped to the back; a coffee table book with a dated handwritten note will pull at the heartstrings in due time. In the end, it’s the effort (not the prior planning) that shows the person how much she means to you.
