THE FALL FIND THE FUN LIST RECIPE
Easy Sourdough Bread
INGREDIENTS
1 ¼ cup plus 1 Tbsp. cold water
1 Tbsp. honey
½ tsp. active dry yeast
3 cups bread flour
2 tsp. kosher salt
DIRECTIONS
In a small bowl, combine water, honey, and yeast. Let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Stir in yeast mixture until a shaggy dough forms. Cover and let rise for 2 hours.
Scrape dough from bowl, smoothing out any lumps. Return to bowl, cover, and refrigerate for 24 to 36 hours.
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Fold each side toward the center, flip, and shape into a tight ball. Place in a bowl and proof on counter for 45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 480°F with a Dutch oven inside.
Repeat folding and shaping technique from Step 4. Transfer dough to a parchment paper-lined-bowl, cover, and proof in refrigerator for 45 minutes.
Transfer parchment and dough to preheated Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for 25 more, or until golden brown. Cool completely in the Dutch oven before slicing and enjoying.
