How to Look Glamorous Without Trying Too Hard
There’s something refreshing (and beautiful) about a minimalist look. Imagine sleek silhouettes, clean lines, modern accessories, and outfits that feel effortless and elegant. Senior fashion director Shallon Hunter Manion breaks down five ways to do low-key glam.
Good news: Flats are trending! That means you don’t have to put on heels to dress up an outfit. Instead, try a pointed-toe T-strap (so flattering on the foot) or metallic Mary Jane with a mini.
Low-key glam is all about the contrast and we can’t think of a better example than a sequin party dress styled with a blazer. It’s a chic trade for a traditional cashmere wrap.
Black-on-black will forever be chic, but a tonal white is a refreshing palette cleanser as we move into winter. Try mixing textures—knits, jeans, silk, and leather—to add interest and dimension.
Invest in a gold or silver metallic shoe for dressy events. “You’ll never regret having a seasonless metallic flat or heel that goes with everything,” Shallon says.
Forget sparkles and pearls. With accessories, achieve the low-key glam look with bold, modern earrings and structural bags.
Try mixing shapes—think a square clutch with round stud earrings—or play up a shape by repeating it in multiple accessories (bag, shoes, bangles, you name it).
You aren’t just seeing stripes. Tiger print is the animal print of the moment, so let it do the talking. Treat it as a neutral and keep your accessories simple—it’ll add edge to any outfit, whether you’re wearing it with off-white, black, or as a set.
